Dealing with long term side effects

Posted by Cocobud @cocobud, May 10, 2016

Hi all, Is it just me or do we all keep suffering for years to come, I am 2 years 2 months and I am still having a difficult time with memory, getting things done, takes forever. Am I alone and how long does it go on?
Thanks

I have a little over a year out n I suffer terribly with memory fog... I also learned that have to treat me as I develop Graves disease which increases trouble with memory fog

I'm 15 months post cancer treatment. It's good to know others are experiencing memory loss and lack of energy. My taste buds seem to be at about 75% now which is a vast improvement over how I was. I am experiencing difficulty with lymph edema in my neck. Still undergoing physical therapy with some relief. I appreciate the folks sharing their experiences. My primary care physician at the VA doesn't seem able to relate.

Cut VA loss. They have gave me no real good help. I'm 6 years out since last radiation and I have had so many side effects. I do have memory loss too didn't realize it was a side effect

I've attached 4 chemobrain related info sheets from CancerCare - patients here find them very useful - hope you will too. Chemobrain - keep memory sharp, Improving Concentration, Chemobrain - cognitive problems, and Chemobrain - Doctor, Can we talk?

I'm right there with you - my first radiation treatments finished in december 2014. Remembering names is huge issue. But overall life is good. Tom

I'm almost 11 years out from treatment, 13 from Dx. I STILL have memory problems, numbness/tingling/shoot-holy-crap-pain in my neck, endless tooth problems, and now lymphedema in my arm. Oh, and I'm only 35.

They took all my teeth for radiation, and i still have pain like I have teeth in my mouth.I did not want them to take them but was told if they did not remove them before treatment my teeth would tot and cause problems after treatment.
I ended up lossi g lots of jaw bone and i still can\'t get dentures because 3yrs out I still get sores in my mouth.

It has been 3yrs.post radiation and going on two post chemo. Still weak and can\'t remember much. I am starting to get more short of breathe where cancer has metastized to both lungs. I am waiting on a clinical trial. Has any one had a trial that works.

Have you considered medical cannabis? At the very least, it will improve your quality of life. In MA where I live it\'s legal but you have to obtain a medical marijuana card through MD prescription:

Medical marijuana comes in a variety of forms so not necessary to smoke it.
