Does Ginger Prevent Nausea?

Posted by charles @charles, Jan 11, 2019

Several posts have recently suggested Ginger can reduce chemotherapy associated nausea. Anyone have any experience with this? https://news.cancerconnect.com/treatment-care/ginger-supplements-reduce-chemotherapy-induced-nausea-3B6rHRbu9keWrwgbJujyTQ/

We used Smooth Move tea to balance the constipation that cropped up after days of zofran. He was on 3/day for a long time.

yes ginger, spearmint, and papaya enzymes (haven't tried this) the others work if it's mild nausea. good luck! I like Zofran, ativan, and I forgot the name of other RX ones. Good luck p.s. I got some good barf bags at amazon and just knowing I had one in car or nearby kept it away sometimes.

also try cannabis (but don't drive if you've had it!)

Best nausea remedies I recommend, from when I was going through Chemotherapy: Ginger hard candy (I like 'Preggie Pop Drops' or 'Queasy Drops', available on Amazon); 'Ginger Mints', kind of like Altoids (but with ginger, available at Trader Joe's Stores); Herbal Tea with Peppermint & Spearmint (Bigelow 'Mint Medley'); Of course, Zofran for severe nausea - but then I have to drastically increase my fiber intake, to keep my bowels working - minimum 15 - 20 grams of fiber daily, either via fiber caplets or a fiber-fortified food source, like 'Thomas Lite Multi-grain English muffins' (8g fiber each) or 'One-Fiber' Bars (9g each, Oats & Chocolate - yum!).

Candied ginger root, with the sugar brushed off as best I can, was great for the nausea after chemo (carboplatin/Taxol). It is also a cancer fighter, and does not cause more constipation ( a serious chemo result for me).
