Head and neck cancer: were here for support!

Posted by Bridgette @bridgette, Sep 3, 2018

I got diagnosed with head and neck cancer and started treatment April 24, 2017..I remember coming on this site and reading about others experiences, and it helped me tremendously..I had alot of unknown fear, and I did not know what to expect, because everyone's experience and healing is different..if there are any questions for people that have just begun their journey, I would be happy to talk with you and help alleviate some of your worries and fears..I am now in recovery, and I will get my PETSCAN September 19, 2017 for a follow up!

Pray all goes well with your scan. Have you considered MRI scans for follow-up? I have been followed up twice a year with MRIs only--refuse the potentially harmful gadolinium contrast.
PET scans, in particular, and to a somewhat lesser extent, CT scans emit a huge amount of damaging radiation so I rejected them.

I guess insurance has to ok any tests..from what I understand cancer is attracted to sugar and there is something in the injection that causes the cancer cells to light up to show positivity of cancer wherever it exists in the body

I guess none of it is any good..

Yes but it is not necessary--years ago, no contrast was used and it still accurately shows everything without it.
