My therapy dog was trained and tested at an infusion center one year prior to my diagnosis. Having her beside me during my treatment made a tremendous difference in my anxiety levels and comfort levels. Don’t know if it makes a difference in prognosis but to be around therapy animals certainly makes a difference in quality of life
I've incorporated various forms of exercise (cycling, biking, walking, hiking, jogging) in my recovery from Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. A few elderly residents who live nearby and have physical challenges were looking for someone to exercise their pets. I figured their dogs would make good jogging companions and now we all look forward to our daily walk/jog routines. When the pet owners wanted to pay me for exercising their dogs, I suggested they make quarterly donations to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. It's a Win-Win situation for everyone.
Outstanding idea, everybody wins!
my new friend Fang came to me as a stray.cat. a few days after stem cell. he has been a a very welcome friend. keeps me motivated and is always by my side. often wonder how the gods work in mysterious ways .
The value of pets in the healing process is under appreciated. https://news.cancerconnect.com/treatment-care/healthcare-is-going-to-the-dogs-and-other-pets C
Pet therapy has helped me emotionally, physically, and mentally. Actually, it has been the best part of my cancer treatment.
My Therapists. Keep me joyful
We got our basset hound during the pandemic 2020. My husband recently passed in June 2022 oral cancer. I am one year post mastectomy thankfully NED now. Taking hormone pill which requires I get infusion therapy twice a year. November 2022 will the first time going alone. Wish my Daphne was trained therapy dog so she could come. She is a great comfort all the time.
Heres to national pet day - both mine passed this year and i truely miss them! Best C
Truly sorry for your loss.
