My fiance is a Recovering Alcoholic (sober for 6 1/2 months now). He has been a drinker and smoker since he was 13 years old (now 54). He has been seeing a VA dentist that has been cleaning and pulling teeth etc. He noticed a spot at the point where two more teeth needed to be pulled and sent him to the Buffalo VA for removal and biopsy. Of course, they did not pull the teeth until they find out the results of biopsy. The dentist says that 70% of drinkers who also smoke all their life get a cancer of some sort in their mouth, or on their gums or in their jaw and all of the above. He just had the biopsy yesterday. We don't know anything about this Does anyone on this site have an alcoholic/smoker with a mouth cancer because of the drinking and smoking? What kind of cancer is it? What kind of treatments do they do and what is the general outcome? Thank you for any information you have.
