Hello Everyone, I am undergoing 39 radiation treatment (just finished number 29) and have finished 7 rounds of Cisplatin and will be doing one or two more. It sounds like I am doing more than most here have said. I am lucky at this point as the only problems I am having is a burn around my neck and still have a decent sized lymph node. The doctor said it looks like we got the tonsil cancer. DOes the treatment sound harsh, is he over doing it cause I am without major symptoms. I have dry mouth but use a toothpaste that helps, Salagen and a mouth spray and gel to help with the dryness. I do not taste anything that I eat, however I have only lost about 10 pounds I am hoping that in the next two weeks I will be finished. On a side not to Cocobud, I also use Adderall about 90 mgs a day to keep the energy. It helps somewhat. Since I have HIV also I have had issues with fatigue.

I had a tonsil cancer scare. It seems like a lot of rads but there must be a reason. what does your dr say?

I had 35 radiation treatments. My taste buds shave only come back about half way. I can taste sweet and salty. Anything sour is too sour. I use Biotene spray during the day and keep a bottle of it by my bed at night.
I lost a lot of weight and got too weak to walk, so I had a feeding tube.

Hi Susan,

How long has it been since you finished treatment? Did you do any chemo? I
finished chemo since I wrote that post and my last day of radiation is on
Friday. I can't wait. I still have a cancerous lymph node in my neck that
isnt going away so I am a little freaked about that. I am going to post
something in the forum to see if I can get some answers. I hope you feel
better soon.

Best,
Hi Seth,
I had two chemo treatments too. Both my oncologist and radiologist said I had the worst reactions they'd ever seen, so you will probably have a better time of it. I finished radiation two years ago. I was supposed to have three chemo treatments, but I got too weak.

I had a PET scan right after radiation and it showed cancer still in my lymph node. My ENT told me I should have waited because the radiation was still working. He was right. In fact my oncologist said the radiation is still working. I've had three clear PET scans in a row.
I feel fine and have about 95% of my energy back. I just miss eating regular food.
Then I think of blind people and amputees, and realize I don't have it so bad.
